AWE, WONDER AND SPECTACLE ON GAME OF TALENTS STARTING ON SABC2

SABC2 introduces a new seven-part series, Game of Talents, on Thursdays at 19:00 from the 7th of March 2024.

Game of Talents is a spectacular guessing game show presented by Vernon Kay.

In each episode, two teams of contestants will battle it out to compete for the chance to win a life-changing sum of money, helped by two celebrities to make the right decisions before the performers “Show us your talent.”

The teams are of two players who know each other well and compete against one another as they try to correctly guess the hidden talents of a line-up of mystery performers. Each round is an entertaining mix of surprise and tension as talents are revealed and money is won or lost. Can the audience tell the fire eater from the footballer or the line dancer from the lion tamer? A list of eight extraordinary talents displayed on the board, and one by one, over seven rounds, the performers will take to the stage and introduce themselves – revealing only basic information.

In each round, the contestant can either play or pass to their opponents. A clue is given of the performing talent to the team trying to guess correctly and may be delivered by famous faces.

Before the performers reveal their talents, it’s time to find out how much their guess is worth. Seven ‘cash balls’ rise from a podium, each 1 displaying a different amount ranging from £500 to £10,000. How much is inside? And, more importantly, have the duo guessed the talent correctly?

For every correct guess a team makes, they bank the money inside their chosen cash ball, however, if they get it wrong the money goes over to the opposing team. Whoever has banked the most money after seven performances will go to the final round to play for their prize pot. Along the way, the host ups the stakes by adding cash balls of £20,000 and £50,000 into the game.

Only one duo can go through to the final, but will the contestant who gets through take home the money they have banked? In the final round, one talent remains on the board – which means the contestant and their celebrity teammate already know our final performer’s talent.

Therefore, to win their prize pot, they need to identify the performer out of the four strangers presented to them on stage. One is the remaining talented performer, and the other three are imposters.

Will the contestant and their celebrity partner be able to correctly guess who out of the line-up is the talented performer? It’s time to make their final guess. The remaining performers will take to the stage for a jaw-dropping finale. But has the contestant guessed correctly? Or could they fall at the final hurdle and lose everything?

Si La with Game of Talents, every Thursday at 19:00, only on SABC2.

VETKOEKPALEIS – PRESS RELEASE

Media Release

Johannesburg, 21 December 2023 – SABC2 announces Vetkoekpaleis as the replacement for long-running soapie 7de Laan from the 27th of December 2023, taking over the 6pm slot. 7de Laan will air for the last time on the 26th of December 2023 after 24 seasons.

This truly South African series with homegrown humour set in the small town of Nigel, where the leading character, Worsie Visagie, starts his own “take away” business to create employment for himself and a few others. The trials and tribulations of starting a business from scratch are clearly, and in a light-hearted way, expressed in the series. The battle of the small guy against big business has always been a favourite theme amongst the viewers. The personal problems of the leading characters are another source of amusement and of such a nature that the viewers can identify with the characters and their daily issues in the series.

“Vetkoekpaleis was made 27 years ago. What a compliment to everyone involved that the SABC wants to repeat broadcast this program in 2023, in prime time. Most of the reactions that the series has received from the viewers have been very positive. Maybe the reason for Vetkoekpaleis’ longevity is because it was made with one thing in mind, and that was to be entertaining and do it with heart and kindness. I know the viewers will again enjoy Vetkoekpaleis as they did 27 years ago. There is a whole new generation of viewers out there who will enjoy this iconic sitcom”. Says writer and director Willie Esterhuizen.

Featuring: Alvin Bruinders, known for playing the role of a security guard Sheridan; Willie Esterhuizen, who plays Worsie Visagie; Helene Truter, plays the Poppie Delport; Marga Van Rooy, who plays Ella Visagie; Zak Du Plessis, who plays Frikadel Delport, and Liane Heyl known as Boeboe Botha.
