DEAL OR NO DEAL SOUTH AFRICA MOVES FROM SABC1 TO SABC2 – STARTING 4 MARCH 2024

Johannesburg, 20 February 2024 – SABC Video Entertainment announces that the exhilarating game show Deal or No Deal South Africa will move to a new home when its second season kicks off on 4 March 2024.

Deal or No Deal Season 2 will be broadcast on SABC2 on weekdays at 18:30, with the Afrikaans News migrating to SABC 3 in a new timeslot at 20:30.

These scheduling adjustments follow SABC Video Entertainment’s decision to dovetail Skeem Saam and Generations – The Legacy on SABC1 as part of the broadcaster’s strategy to amplify its primetime local drama offering. From 4 March, Skeem Saam will move to the 19:30 timeslot on SABC1, currently occupied by Deal or No Deal South Africa Season 1.

Since launching on SABC 1 a year ago, Deal or No Deal South Africa has transformed the lives of many contestants with big dreams – whether they wanted to further their studies, kickstart a business, invest in their children’s education, or fund a special project.

To date, the total winnings on this life-changing game show amount to more than R5 million.

“We are immensely proud of Deal or No Deal South Africa and how it has brought smiles and excitement to many Mzansi homes,” said Jan du Plessis from Primedia Studios, the Africa-inspired television content hub spearheading the production of the show. Besides boosting the aspirations of hundreds of contestants, this family-friendly game of chance quickly became a mega-hit. Whilst the upcoming season will have all the thrilling elements that will make more viewers fall in love with the show, loyal fans are in for some delightful surprises. The mysterious banker will have some exciting new tricks up his sleeve.”

Katlego Maboe reprises his role as the show’s charming host – the middleman between the budget-conscious banker and the player in the hot seat who wants to go home with loads of cash.

In Deal or No Deal, contestants can win anything between R1 and R250,000. It all depends on the order in which they select to open a series of numbered sealed boxes and how they deal with the banker’s offers to buy the box they have chosen for themselves.

“Game shows are part of the SABC2 signature offering and have always been audience drawcards. They encourage family viewing and participation and speak to our family entertainment positioning, “said SABC2 Channel Head Gerhard Pretorius.

“We are excited to continue the show’s legacy of uplifting communities and giving back, and we welcome Deal or No Deal to the SABC2 family.”
