How about another show on 'pap geld'. My grand mother didn't get any support from her ex - husband, my father ws ordered to R75 for 2 children. I'm going to fight or my children to be maintened, just for the mere fact of breaking this horrible circle. Why is society ok with men behaving like animals and refusing to be responsible. It has nothing to do with getting your ttention or the joke bout me wanting your money. I make my own money and it's damn goo money. I just want you to play your role and be responsible in the interest of the child.
So many women struggle with this, our systems are not helping. From the irritatedand lazy clerk at the maintenance office, to the male prosecutor who reassures the men that all will be well in court. the case dags on and on for sometimes years and in th meantime papgeld is not paid and school fees are also not paid. Then the law prescribes that they can only get 1 year imprisonment for contravining the law.
It is easy to talk about woman empowerment
and how woman should feel free to approach the government.com From my personal experience my request for funding my campaign was rejected by 3 government departments reason being supply chain policies. I fund my campaign with the little i make and i touched lives,my point is in our government the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer. A touching speech on how we should liberate as woman won't change the fact that there is a woman and her children who went to bed hungry tonight while u on stage wearing a R 10 000 dress. Stand up from ur hot sit and walk into the real world.u will learn to stop talking and act. This is how inequality will decrease. Put ur self in the shoes of those are in need of running tap water. Yes... We woman can march to the union building with a list of our concerns but the shameful part is the same woman who encouraged us to stand up and talk will shadow our concerns and protect the government. We don't have a platform to express our needs. Apartheid is still here except this time its rich people oppressing the poor. Its shameful to see how people who fought for our freedom are corrupt and greedy because of money and power. As a young black woman i ask myself did they really fight for freedom or money and power that they are misusing so much. Once and only once we are honest with who and where we are maybe we might improve as a country, till then... Not yet uhuru!!!
hi penny. I watched the show earlier about suicide and that mamma that came and tell her story. It touched me again because im 35yrs and tried to commit suicide in 1995 when i was so in love with a woman. I drank a quarter of a pocket which is used to put money in, the small transparent ones, full of sleeping pills. I swallowed it all,but by Gods grace i survived. Dear Penny
My name is Nokuphumla Sneli and since last year I have started an organisation called Teenagers Not Curses in Gugulethu. Here we deal with issues like rape, teenage pregnancy, peer pressure, substance abuse, domestic violence and suicide.
Having watched your programme on the 29/04/2013 which focused on suicide, I felt that I so much wanted to be in studio with you because you were touching on things that we always educate the teenagers in our sessions when it comes to suicide. It is so true Penny that we as a society we need to stop wearing the blinkers and blaming a whole lot of other external forces and educate ourselves about these issues. Because me dealing with teenagers on a daily basis I have discovered and learned that parents just don't get involved in their children's lives anymore, and to be honest teenagers out there are getting away with a lot of wrong things because no one has time to show them right from wrong. I'm 33 years of age and I have looked at the teenagers in my community of Gugulethu and have asked myself what can I do for them, that is how I started Teenagers Not Curses. The children need guidance they need someone to talk to someone they can relate to and 99,9 % of the time parents don't give their children that.
At any stage when you have the above topics as discussion you can feel free to contact me, and I will gladly join you in touching on these matters.
My contact details are as follows:

Looking forward to hearing from you, stay blessed.
Kind regards
